Specification and maintenance of the guidelines for the fibre optic transmission technology as well as for fibre optic test specification.

In 2003 the WG worked at specification and maintenance of the guidelines for the fibre optic transmission technology for PROFIBUS and PROFINET and physical layer medium dependent sublayer on 650 nm fibre optics for PROFINET.

In 2004 the WG continued this work and reviewed the fiber optic relevant chapters of PROFINET Installation Guide.

In 2005 the WG continued work at fiber optic relevant chapters of PROFINET Installation Guide. In addition the WG worked at the specification "Physical Layer Medium Dependent Sub Layer on 650 nm Fibre Optics for PROFINET" and the white paper "Fibre diagnostics".

In 2006 the WG will keep on working at "Fibre diagnostics" and finish the POF-specification.
