Optimization and further development of the PROFIBUS and PROFINET electromechanics for IP 20 and IP 65/67.
Definition of wiring infrastructure for PROFIBUS and PROFINET, definition of installation components (interconnect devices, connectors, cables) and description of methods for test and certification of installation components.

In 2003 the WG continued the work at the installation guide part 1 and started work at part 2 of the installation guide.

In 2004 the WG supported the IEC standardisation of the Installation Guide and
started to create test specifications for connectors and cables.

In 2005 the WG started work at 24 V power installation systems with standardized connectors and enhanced the installation guide for PROFINET. The IEC standardisation of the Installation Guide IEC 61918 was supported and the PROFIBUS Interconnection Guideline reviewed.

In 2006 the WG will finalise the "Test Specifications for Connectors and Cables" and the "PROFINET Cabling and Interconnection Technology".
