Specification and recommendation of common standards on Industrial Ethernet for PROFINET devices (e.g. DCP, IP management, network diagnosis, time protocols).

In 2003 the WG published its first specification as a part of the PROFINET - Architecture Description and Specification V2.0.

In 2004 the WG revised the specification for PROFINET IO requirements.

In 2005 the WG judged the conformance classes, updated the PROFINET System Description and worked on PROFINET Installation Guide part 2.

In 2006 the WG will continue work on PROFINET Installation Guide part 2 based on conformance classes and coordinate the PROFINET network management.
