Task of this WG is to obtain a security concept to meet the requirements in industrial communication, to specify security methods and mechanisms for the security concept and to create a PROFIBUS security guideline.

In 2004 the WG released a draft version of the security guideline.

In 2005 the PROFINET Security Guideline passed the PI-Review and was released. The WG performed initial steps for establishing a platform to focus security standardization activities together with industrial umbrella organizations (ZVEI, VDI/VDE-GMA, VDMA, NAMUR) and organized a workshop to get feedback and input for further standardization activities and for the PROFINET security concept.

In 2006 the WG will place the PROFINET security concept into decisive standardization committees (IEC TC65/WG10, SC65C/WG13 and ISA SP99) via DKE in coordination with "ZVEI-platform".
