Technologies from PI (PROFIBUS & PROFINET International) will be in the spotlight at the joint PI stand at the SPS trade show from November 14 – 16, 2023 (Hall 5, Stand 210). Together with a hundred other exhibitors, PI will be presenting the ongoing development of PI technologies, technology updates and innovations—in short, the future of industrial automation.

The Industry 4.0 wall will exhibit an important new innovation there: an impressive new security demo will be showing how PROFINET Security works. It will now be possible to utilize security on the OT level as well. The demo provides insight to both users and manufacturers for their own planning and implementation of security solutions. Another highlight on the Industry 4.0 wall will be the PROFINET over TSN demo. This will not only present the function and use of the technology, but clarify the current state of implementation as well. 

The OPC UA Safety demo will once again be exhibited at the show, demonstrating how safety communication can also easily be established with more flexible systems with changing controllers. 

As well, PROFIdrive will be presented with a live showcase. Eleven drives from different manufacturers will demonstrate how perfect coordination works in a demanding drive application. Also sure to impress is the digitization system, which will demonstrate the virtualization of planning, commissioning and operation. The enormous potential of a shared, powerful profile platform will be clearly illustrated here.

Thanks to its openness, IO-Link has already gained massive acceptance the world over. A large multi-vendor wall with more than 200 IO-Link devices from different manufacturers will showcase the impressive variety of IO-Link devices. The integrated implementation of functional safety is increasingly becoming standard in automation. The IO-Link community is keeping up with this trend with IO-Link Safety and will be exhibiting a functional demo with IO-Link Safety devices from seven manufacturers at the SPS show. 

Thanks to solutions you can touch and grasp, the omlox tracking technology will impress visitors with its world premiere this year. Together with omlox partners, end-to-end hardware and software solutions based on the new omlox V2 specification will be shown in a live demonstration for the first time.

With the completion of the specifications and guidelines, everything is set for PROFINET over APL to be used in process automation. The live process automation demo has been expanded with a host of PROFINET products with an Ethernet APL physical layer. Visitors will have the opportunity to interactively operate a system structure based on PROFINET and PROFIBUS PA. 

Naturally, PI's latest technology—MTP—must not be missing from the show. A multi-vendor live demo will impressively show how complex production systems can be modularly designed and flexibly reconfigured.
